Seriously though, in my experience they can both be used equivalently like in the above example. The difference emerges when 送 is used with one of its other meanings, like: 1. 我送你到门口。 2. 我送给你到门口。 Here it should be clear that the second sentence is no good. Can be analyzed as "I bestow upon thee..." 我送一个礼物给你吧 ✔ Same meaning, serial verb construction.
