Ian_Lee Posted August 8, 2005 at 07:57 PM Report Posted August 8, 2005 at 07:57 PM I just watched a Japanese TV program last night about Kanji (Chinese characters) recognition competition. They got about 60 contenders who answered in turn to the Hiragana or Kanji posted by the anchor on big screen and they have to write down Kanji or Hiragana in return. The anchor classified the questions in term of degree of difficulty. And after 81 rounds, the winner was a middle-age lady who even beat a 60-year old Japanese language teacher. Afterwards, a group of celebrities was selected to test on some simple Kanji. NONE of them could write correctly the Kanji of greeting (aisatsu). Quote
