Hi everyone,

I am an Indian. I have got an post doc offer at Tsinghua university. The annual salary is 1,20,000 RMB. I am planning to move there with my wife. I wish to know the cost of living and the standard life at places near Tsinghua university. What are the taxations I sholud expect  during my 2 year post doc tenure at Tsinghua university?

Thanks in advance.

Will the university be providing you with accommodation?

It can vary a lot depending on what standard of living you want or find acceptable.

A one bed apartment is about 5k to 6k looking at the estate agents advertising's. Of course you will find cheaper and much more expensive.

120k a year is 10k a month. Realistically it's certainly liveable but a bit of a frugal lifestyle.

Use apps like JingDong  to buy groceries. It can be much cheaper, especially for western style goods.

Edit: as regards taxes, you need to ask your employer. China sometimes has an usual system of quoting salaries AFTER all tax is deducted. Foreign company's operating in China is usually not like this due to people's expat status.
