Liu Jian's animations

Anyone watched anything by Liu Jian (刘健)? Seems to be two full-length pieces 刺痛我 (Piercing I) and one called either 好极了 or 大世界 (Have A Nice Day in English). I've not sat down and watched a full one but taken in a few clips and they look to be intriguing dark underworld / crime animations.  I like the style of animation but not the content, it is not my sort of thing. I am sure though it will appeal to people.

 

The language was good, easy to understand and with subtitles.

I am more into old school animation, especially 张光宇, he should be more famous abroad. Very subversive  

 

FamilyMart 全家 is doing something right now, they have these figurines.

I find I am in quite the opposite boat to Shelley, as I find I am very distracted by how much I dislike the animation style but the content appeals to me haha. Go figure. I will have to make time to watch them soon.

Have a Nice Day is getting a tour of the UK's smaller cinemas, it seems - up in Dundee at the moment at Dundee Contemporary Arts and the Filmhouse in Edinburgh for a few days from the 24th. List of venues here.
