Later - what word do you use?

I think Kathy is suggesting that 等一下 is not used to mean "later" rather than not used at all. 

 

@ChTTay is right of course in that it's used extensively in Beijing especially in restaurants by a 服务员 and impatient customers. They will always say 稍等一下,

Or often before you answer the door for a 快递 

(He wouldn't be too happy  if you said 等一会儿:mrgreen:)
