New Members FortuitousIdiom Posted February 6, 2018 at 02:10 PM New Members Report Share Posted February 6, 2018 at 02:10 PM My grandfather accompanied a couple named the Driscolls arranged a cultural exchange/private enterprise excursion involving much red tape in 1981. He had this seal made at the time. Thanks in advance!
Jim Posted February 6, 2018 at 03:27 PM Report Share Posted February 6, 2018 at 03:27 PM Looks like 安费偶德 (ān fèi ǒu dé) assuming the character we see top left is top right when printed and it reads top to bottom, right to left. The four characters in combination appear to be a transliteration of a non-Chinese name - Anfield perhaps? Ancestors from Liverpool? 1
New Members FortuitousIdiom Posted February 6, 2018 at 03:36 PM Author New Members Report Share Posted February 6, 2018 at 03:36 PM Ah, Armfield! He did tell me it was supposed to be his name, but has a dog carved on the top & he didn't read Chinese so would often joke that it probably said, "Dog sh*t." ? Thanks for the help!
