Yayathatsmee Posted March 27, 2018 at 10:20 AM Report Share Posted March 27, 2018 at 10:20 AM Young, dumb and broke! I got this tattoo many years ago. I’m wondering if translation is correct and if it makes sense as it is written? Thanks
Lu Posted March 27, 2018 at 10:26 AM Report Share Posted March 27, 2018 at 10:26 AM 长子 'eldest son' Is that what you meant? The calligraphy is pretty decent. Personally I think traditional characters usually look nicer (長子), but these are fine too. All in all, you could have done a lot worse. 1 1

Yayathatsmee Posted March 27, 2018 at 10:39 AM Author Report Share Posted March 27, 2018 at 10:39 AM Thank you. Yes, I got this after the birth of my son. I couldn’t really afford to spend much on a tattoo at the time, so this is what I opted for to keep it simple and cheap. I did research on it but I didn’t really consider if it made sense or if it may have additional meaning. Thanks Lu and Shelley for your replies. 陳德聰 Posted March 27, 2018 at 05:43 PM Report Share Posted March 27, 2018 at 05:43 PM It means eldest son but I feel like a tattoo of it on you implies that you are the eldest son. 3

I felt the same way. Although I think I would also feel that if someone had a tattoo in English saying Eldest son.
