Lol, yeah true. Making that assumption, I guess I'd go with something like 但愿我没让你走, although I don't know if 让你走 is used in this way in Chinese as "let you go" in this sense is really an idiom.

I think 让你走 has more compulsion to it, closer to kicked you out of my life, say.

Of course when lyrics are translated to actually fit into a song, they have to scan right and that can mean sacrificing some literalness.
