New Members eongdej Posted April 6, 2018 at 10:45 PM New Members Report Share Posted April 6, 2018 at 10:45 PM Hello, I have a problem with the 别说...了,就是...都... structure. In my textbook there's only 2 sentences with it and I don't really get this. Could anyone make some simple examples or just explain what it means? I would be grateful for that. Publius Posted April 7, 2018 at 05:25 AM Report Share Posted April 7, 2018 at 05:25 AM Some examples and related links at https://resources.allsetlearning.com/chinese/grammar/Expressing_"let_alone"_with_"bie_shuo" 别说 = not to mention, to say nothing of So it's similar to "not A, let alone B" only in reverse order: 别说B了,连A都不
889 Posted April 7, 2018 at 01:34 PM Report Share Posted April 7, 2018 at 01:34 PM 别说...了 can be confusing because it's often not meant to be taken literally. Think of the English expression, "You don't say!" Try to explain that logically to a non-native English speaker.
