Guest jamila Posted July 23, 2016 at 01:12 PM Report Posted July 23, 2016 at 01:12 PM Hi @Helan. It seems like the chances of getting the dorm are very small. I'm on the waiting list too, and my Japanese firends has told me that if you are on the waiting list it actually means that you have to wait till the next semester and try to reserve the dorm again. Helan Posted July 26, 2016 at 10:32 AM Report Posted July 26, 2016 at 10:32 AM That's fucked up. I had already emailed them about it, but I haven't gotten a response yet. So where are we supposed to live in the meantime? Is there any way to easily find an affordable room in Shanghai? Quote
Guest jamila Posted August 22, 2016 at 09:32 PM Report Posted August 22, 2016 at 09:32 PM I got the email from jiaoda saying that we have to find an apartment on our own. And it had recommended a wechat account called Anyhelper. But I think you've got this email too. Quote
New Members Wingie Posted August 23, 2016 at 06:02 PM New Members Report Posted August 23, 2016 at 06:02 PM Oh that really sucks. Luckily I managed to find a room. I literally woke up at 2am (GMT) to try and reserve and spent 2 hours trying to get a room since every single one I clicked kept filling up. I hope you guys find a place to stay. I'd imagine that there should be some affordable places around from what I've read. Quote
Helan Posted August 24, 2016 at 10:01 AM Report Posted August 24, 2016 at 10:01 AM I also got an email, but mine said I can try to reserve again on the 5th of September at 9am. Which is the day before I leave, so it's gonna be a little bit stressful if I'll fail to reserve a room again;p Quote

Tiri Posted September 25, 2018 at 12:34 PM Report Posted September 25, 2018 at 12:34 PM Hi everyone~ I see in this topic people asking questions and having doubts about the actual life of foreign students in SJTU. For this purpose, our university's international affair's office started a monthly bilingual column in which we interview students to find out more about their daily life. Here's a link to the first article. Be sure to follow our official WeChat account to find out more! https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/0J1q7fYaTZh4GZPEgDT6lQ Quote
New Members Ajeey Posted November 24, 2018 at 02:33 AM New Members Report Posted November 24, 2018 at 02:33 AM Hi, I am considering studying my masters degree at the Minhang campus. Is commuting from let's say Xuhui to Minhang campus doable? Or will this be a huge pain? Also for anyone doing their masters (Naval Architecture and Ocean engineering), do you have classes every day? How does an average week look like? I would like to live closer to downtown and experience the life in Shanghai more upfront (restuarants, citylife, nightlife, etc.), rather than staying close to Minhang campus. I am not looking to stay in campus dorms, and money is not an isssue. Quote
Tiri Posted November 27, 2018 at 04:08 AM Report Posted November 27, 2018 at 04:08 AM I know students who live in Xuhui but their classes are in Minhang. It is not a problem, either by subway or school bus, but gets tricky in the evenings and weekends. Still, definitely doable. Quote

New Members Macy Posted March 30, 2020 at 04:21 PM New Members Report Posted March 30, 2020 at 04:21 PM Hi! I just got admitted into the Antai College of Economic and Management (MIB) and I would love to find some people, who have also studied at SJTU. I want to know how the university experience at Xuhui campus is like, the quality of the lectures and maybe also find people, who will also start at the SJTU in September 2020. Quote
