Wishing someone 'Dog S***' luck

Recommended Posts

So today I was researching how to wish my classmate luck for an interview and I came across this story about how when there wasn't much fertilizer in china they used to sell dog poo, so it was considered lucky to suddenly have dog poo on a bad day. So it became a way to wish someone luck.

Gǒu shǐ yùn

Has anyone ever heard of this expression in everyday use? Since it was amusing I though I would share it here.

Yes, it's pretty common, especially in the form 走狗屎運 or 踩狗屎運.

seems like the way we say in English for someone to 'break a leg' when we are wishing them success.

Another form of saying 烂命狗屎运,used most recently in a movie I just watched the other day 天亮之前

Another masterpiece starring 郭富城 IMHO
