New Members Teacher_89UK Posted May 29, 2018 at 11:22 AM New Members Report Posted May 29, 2018 at 11:22 AM Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone has any advice; it would be greatly appreciated. I am currently working in China and hoping to change jobs. I have all the relevant documentation except for a recent non-criminal background check. My current one was done in December 2016, so I’m in need of a more recent one to apply for a new work permit; I’m hoping to move to a different city. I’ve been living in China since April 2017 and I come from the UK. When I applied for my non-criminal background check originally, they required proof of address (past 6 months) and obviously I’ve been living abroad for the past year. I’m wondering does anyone have any experience applying for a non-criminal background check (UK) plus the exciting job of authenticating the document, all from China? If there is no other option, then I will have to go home in the summer and sort it out, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience or any suggestions about doing it from China? I appreciate any suggestions. Thank you in advance! ? Quote
mungouk Posted May 29, 2018 at 12:08 PM Report Posted May 29, 2018 at 12:08 PM I did a UK ACRO police check while I was living in Australia a couple of years back, not sure if that's the same thing? (or maybe the opposite!?). I had to provide TEN years' worth of addresses, which was quite a feat... (15 in all) No problem doing the check — application is all online — but I can't say anything about getting it authenticated. Quote

mungouk Posted May 29, 2018 at 03:43 PM Report Posted May 29, 2018 at 03:43 PM So that's a criminal-backround check. Not a 'non-criminal' one. Good luck! Quote
mungouk Posted May 29, 2018 at 03:46 PM Report Posted May 29, 2018 at 03:46 PM btw there's also a recent thread about changing jobs/FWP while in China which suggests it might be a bigger problem. This is outside my expertise, but maybe take a look? Quote
