I was in the famous Sydney CNY Parade and looking back, it had become a highlight of my time there.

Hope you're not looking forward to CNY parades in China.  CNY in China is like Christmas in Australia - everything shuts down, everyone goes home and the streets are mostly deserted.

It is based on your goal.

If your goal is to improve Chinese skills and to communicate with your colleague in the company, you do not need to go to China. There are tons of Chinese learning materials.

If you want to learn more about Chinese culture, like what is going on there, why do they use mobile payments that much, go to China is the only way to learn the facts.
