How can I learn all the non pinyin combinations in this table?

is there any trick to learning the pinyin chart?

 

i have an exam in 4 days and 1 section of the exam is to circle the non pinyin word in a list. Is there a trick or rule available so that i dont need to study each blank space in the table?

I would think that the more productive way would be to study all the non-blank spaces, so that rather than knowing a bunch of non-existant combinations, you instead know a bunch of existing combinations and when you see one you’ve never seen before you can pick it out.

The best trick is to learn things properly rather than leaving it until four days before the exam.

It depends if the non-pinyin word can be a plausible pinyin combination (eg, xuang) or it will be something that more plausibly violates pinyin spelling (eg, ghruen).
