Dink?Neet?Kidult?Twixter?

I have read a article talking about the new grown-ups in '新民周刊'. This article suggests that more and more chinese young adults seem not be able to take up their responsibilities to the families as well as the society. Although they have reached the age to take a stable job, to establish their own families, to have new babies in the traditional views of most chinese parents, most of those physically qualified youngsters are showing apparent kid-like characteristics. They indulged themselves in cartoons, computer games, crazy shopping while still living with their parents, with no fear of getting old day by day. '25 forever is their beliefs' which gives them the excuse to live together before marriage or get married without babies, upsetting the elder quite a lot. According to these phenomena, the specialists call them 'kidult' or 'twixter', and kind of blaming on the lack of EQ education as well as culture invasion. so i am curious on this and i am wondering if this happens in western world? when do the westerners regard as the right time to be independent? what do the westerners think of 'dink' or 'neet' and also living together before marriage( it seems ubiquitous in the west)? :)

The extended childhood is something that's been going on for years in the West.

The traditional path was: Yuppy to Dinky, but now there's a new stage definition, Sitcom.

Dinky being: Double Income No Kids Yet.

Sitcom being: Single Income, Two Children, Oppressive Mortgage. ( The traditional household, mother stays at home, dad sole provider...)

Don't know what "neets" are though.

Neet is Not in Education, Employment or Training (which sounds worrying like me at the moment . . .)

Doesn't sound very logical to me ... And why do they need an excuse to do that in the first place? :-?

They indulged themselves in cartoons, computer games, crazy shopping while still living with their parents, with no fear of getting old day by day.

I only object to "living with parents". IMHO, if people could be independent and afford to "indulge" themselves in anything, they could do so as long as they are not breaking the laws or affecting other people. And it is not bad having no fear of getting old. 活在當下嘛 ...
