New Members mae Posted July 19, 2018 at 05:11 PM New Members Report Share Posted July 19, 2018 at 05:11 PM Hello! Very happy to find this forum, I am drawn to Chinese art/vases/jewelry. Anyways, I am hoping someone can tell me what the mark on the bottom of my tea cups says, and maybe someone can tell me if it is new or old? I don't think very old, but I thought maybe from the 1950s/60s? Any information would be appreciated! A different site said that it was "Jingdezhen Cai", meaning "Jingdezhen-Ornamented. Also, can anyone tell me what the writing on the box says and what the writing on the side of the cup says? Thank you again!
Jim Posted July 19, 2018 at 06:23 PM Report Share Posted July 19, 2018 at 06:23 PM Yes, that does say 景德镇彩;apparently that means the blank was made elsewhere but it was glazed and decorated in Jingdezhen: https://zhidao.baidu.com/question/358632417.html Writing on the side says 十二金钗 which refers to women characters from Dream of the Red Chamber: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dream_of_the_Red_Chamber#Jia_Baoyu_and_the_Twelve_Beauties_of_Jinling Writing on the box says 古典茗具 which means something along the lines of "classic tea-ware/tea set" 1

Thank you so much for the answer. and the link to the Dream of the Red Chamber information. Kind of neat to have the back story to the -what I thought were Geishas- on my tea set! Much appreciated!
