Some Chinese names for non-Chinese companies like Google are simply based on the principle of choosing the characters that resemble the original pronunciation - 谷歌. (Unless there is also a meaning behind this combination of characters that I am not aware of.) But, it is better if the Chinese name can capture both the original pronunciation and even have some sort of meaning in Chinese, like Coca-Cola, which is 可口可乐 in Chinese.
