wulfgar Posted August 9, 2018 at 07:16 PM Report Posted August 9, 2018 at 07:16 PM (If this isn't allowed, please delete and accept my apologies) I'm looking for some fellow Chinese learners to use and in the process add definitions to this reading tool. It's something like readlang - input your text, save, then you can click words to see their definitions. It color codes and saves your stats. It's in beta, and you can use it free until I launch the pay version (at least a month down the road). https://languagetools.io/ ps: please text me there after joining - I need to enable beta for you Quote
Shelley Posted August 9, 2018 at 09:03 PM Report Posted August 9, 2018 at 09:03 PM It would be nice to have some more info for those of us not familiar with readlang. How does it work, what types of text - PDF, DOCs etc.? How much text can it handle in one go, sentences, paragraphs? What platform is it for? What will the eventual cost be? Will it be subscription, one off and so on? I ask these questions because I don't want to download it, text you, just to find out it isn't something I want or can use. Some pictures might be good too. 1 Quote
wulfgar Posted August 9, 2018 at 10:31 PM Author Report Posted August 9, 2018 at 10:31 PM It's a website; nothing to download. It's also similar to LWT and lingQ if that's helpful. It's very much in beta; there are several major tickets in work, so I hesitate to take too many pics, but here's one. It will eventually be a $5/month subscription. I'd like some more input from Chinese learners, especially about the parser we're using. It's ok for me, but I wonder what others think. We have split-word and join-word capability, but it helps to have a decent quality parser to begin with. Quote
Shelley Posted August 9, 2018 at 10:34 PM Report Posted August 9, 2018 at 10:34 PM Thank you, that helps a lot and it may encourage people to try it and perhaps be able to help. Not the sort of thing I need at the moment, but will remember it. Quote
wulfgar Posted September 7, 2018 at 03:24 AM Author Report Posted September 7, 2018 at 03:24 AM It's working well now - thanks to those who helped! I've decided to keep it free too. Quote
