Characters on Bottom of Koi Jardiniere

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I bought a lovely koi jardiniere today and am researching its history. The characters appear to be Chinese, but I could be wrong. If these are Chinese characters, can someone translate them for me? If not, do you know what language this is in?

Thank you!

It's the manufacturer's name:

永勝彩瓷廠

United Wilson Porcelain Factory

Koi is Japanese for 金鱼, and jardiniere in this context refers to one of those big ceramic planters in the shape of a fishbowl, here decorated with goldfish.
