Pianote Posted September 6, 2018 at 11:49 AM Report Posted September 6, 2018 at 11:49 AM I'm looking for someone to teach me Chinese at a decent price- no more than 150 yuan a month. Thanks again! Quote

abcdefg Posted September 6, 2018 at 01:13 PM Report Posted September 6, 2018 at 01:13 PM Figure out how much you are prepared to pay per hour. Perhaps you could barter tutoring in spoken English. Quote

Lu Posted September 6, 2018 at 06:41 PM Report Posted September 6, 2018 at 06:41 PM 150 yuan per month for say, 20 hours of lessons. That works out to 7.5 yuan per hour, not calculating the time the tutor spends preparing the class. I don't know what tutoring prices are like in China, but I suspect that at these rates even in Guiyang you will not find a decent tutor. If you Google 'studying Chinese Guiyang' you find several options for universities that teach Chinese. Perhaps you can ask around at those? Quote
imron Posted September 8, 2018 at 05:30 AM Report Posted September 8, 2018 at 05:30 AM I suspect you will be unlikely to find anything for that price. However you have other options. I would speak to your boss at the school where you work and let them know you are interested in learning Chinese and ask if they can help you find someone. You might even be able to get private lessons for free, or in exchange for some private English tutoring. Chinese lessons in exchange for private English tutoring might not be ideal, but you're more likely to be able to find that, than you are likely to find a teacher for 150Y a month. 1 Quote
DavyJonesLocker Posted September 8, 2018 at 08:05 AM Report Posted September 8, 2018 at 08:05 AM For reference Beijing is usually 100-200 per hour for someone who is an actual qualified teacher and not someone who can just speak Chinese. 1 Quote

edelweis Posted September 8, 2018 at 12:17 PM Report Posted September 8, 2018 at 12:17 PM This page shows a Guiyang university Chinese language program for 4500 yuan per semester (at the bottom of the page). http://en.gyu.cn/info/1012/1002.htm Assuming it's a standard program of 20 hours per week for 16 weeks, that's about 14 yuan per hour. 2 1 Quote
