What's "pplive" protocol? I couldn't listen to the audio.

I don't know, but I use windows media player to watch the stream, I noticed on the website it mentions there are some probs with real player and the audio stream.

Both 翡翠台 and 本港台 are live feeds...

They're the Guangdong cable feeds, as the HK ads are replaced with mainland ones etc.

I'm curious as to why I'm the only person on this forum who is able to get it to work. I guess you need a first broadband connection, and then just download the app on the site. The only thing I've found to be wary off, is that you have to remember to close the program when you've finished watching (not just whatever media player you're watching itn on), other wise it keeps your PC on the p2p network relaying stuff.

Yep, seems to work fine w WMP after installing the protocol handler software at http://www5.pplive.com/english/ (rightclick toolbar icon, permit the address in the firewall, then select the Channel list)

I wish it had a setting to limit the upstream rate. I can't run anything smoothly on my adsl connection because the upload drains all the bandwidth.

Which PPLive channel is the best for an absolute novice at learning Chinese?

I haven't got much further than learning the name of the currency in Chinese at the moment. So if there is a channel which helps teach the language, I'd be most grateful if someone could point it out to me.

Thanks, for some reason I can't get Windows Media Player to work with it yet, so if anyone knows the reason why, I'd be grateful. But I've added it as a favourite for further investigation.
