webmagnets Posted November 26, 2018 at 05:20 PM Report Posted November 26, 2018 at 05:20 PM I once found a Chinese English dictionary website with video clips for most words. I can't find it anymore. I have no idea what it was called. You could type in a Chinese word and it would give you the definition, but also give you a few video clips from movies or other sources where the word was used on camera. Does anyone remember or know where to find it? Quote

webmagnets Posted November 27, 2018 at 11:50 AM Author Report Posted November 27, 2018 at 11:50 AM No, the clips were just a few seconds long. Long enough to say the word in a sentence. They could be from a kungfu movie or anything else. Quote
roddy Posted November 27, 2018 at 12:17 PM Report Posted November 27, 2018 at 12:17 PM That rang bells and did some searching. Was it this? https://www.chinese-forums.com/forums/topic/48048-video-vocabulary/ It doesn't look to be working any more though. Quote
webmagnets Posted November 27, 2018 at 12:43 PM Author Report Posted November 27, 2018 at 12:43 PM Too bad things like that die. In high school in the nineties we were told that the Internet would be free. I took that literally and am still disappointed. Quote
roddy Posted November 27, 2018 at 12:49 PM Report Posted November 27, 2018 at 12:49 PM Yeah, but then you try and get people to pay a pittance for stuff and they try and send you to the guillotine. There might be something else like that out there (nowadays, if you had a timecoded subtitle file, it should be relatively straightforward, no?) but that's the only thing I thought of. Quote
webmagnets Posted November 27, 2018 at 12:52 PM Author Report Posted November 27, 2018 at 12:52 PM I know. I want money for my stuff work too. I guess my little high school brain was imagining some sort of Utopia. Quote
