I'm not sure about the "advanced" bit but my teacher recommended Learning Chinese Characters from Ms. Zhang: Part 1 (English and Chinese Edition)

 

 

I bought it but have never used it.

As for what you're looking for, I don't there's one exactly that meet your needs.

 

The closest I can think of is:

1.  Outlier Linguistic Dictionary - it's an add-on dictionary to PLECO
https://www.outlier-linguistics.com/

 

2. A less scholarly work in English, with maybe about 35% with the evolution of characters would be:

Fun with Chinese Characters 1: The Straits Times Collection 1 (English and Chinese Edition)

 

There are three books in total. The above is the first one.
