RichS Posted January 26, 2019 at 07:32 AM Report Posted January 26, 2019 at 07:32 AM Pretty much as title, I'm in China so I can access youku and similar platforms. I think I'd like to be able to watch a few with the subtitles on to gain a greater understanding of what its all about. Thanks, Richard. Quote

Publius Posted January 26, 2019 at 08:00 AM Report Posted January 26, 2019 at 08:00 AM Go to Youtube, search 侯寶林. All those videos with a cartoon cover are almost guaranteed to have subtitles. For example, this or this. Quote
Luxi Posted January 26, 2019 at 10:42 AM Report Posted January 26, 2019 at 10:42 AM @RichS did you mean English subtitles? 相声 (crosstalk) is very difficult to translate, much is untranslatable. Here is the only one I could find, at least it will give you an idea. I hope you can access YouTube: 侯宝林 相声《醉酒》(English subtitle) This clip is the subtitled version of the one @Publius suggests above. Since many crosstalk clips have Chinese subs, it would be quite interesting to download the Chinese transcript/srt file and work on it as a language study project. Quote
Publius Posted January 26, 2019 at 12:01 PM Report Posted January 26, 2019 at 12:01 PM I don't think the OP is looking for English subtitles. He passed HSK 6. Plus Youku isn't where you would expect anything other than Chinese. Quote
Jim Posted January 26, 2019 at 12:16 PM Report Posted January 26, 2019 at 12:16 PM Tempted to watch one with English subs to see if they can make more the a few of the jokes work. Not a translation job I'd fancy. Quote

RichS Posted January 26, 2019 at 12:57 PM Author Report Posted January 26, 2019 at 12:57 PM Thanks for your efforts Luxi, but I did mean Chinese subs, Crosstalk seems to be one of the few things that doesn't seem to have it much. Quote
Luxi Posted January 26, 2019 at 05:17 PM Report Posted January 26, 2019 at 05:17 PM Oh, well, the intentions were good I think the skits in last year's Spring Festival Gala shown in CCTV 4 had Chinese subs. Quote
heifeng Posted January 29, 2019 at 03:26 AM Report Posted January 29, 2019 at 03:26 AM Search 欢乐喜剧人 (can add 相声) on Youku (or your platform of choice...) and there are some with subtitles. Quote
袁杰 Posted March 11, 2019 at 08:31 AM Report Posted March 11, 2019 at 08:31 AM search "郭德纲" on Youtube and you will get what you want Quote
