Hello and welcome to the forum.

This is a stylised form of the character for longevity, long life.

As you may have noticed its my avatar:)

It is 寿  shòu .

It is one of many Chinese characters that have been stylised to look more symmetrical, and artistic They often don't look much like the original character. If however you have grown up around Chinese characters or have been studying for a while these will be as familiar to you as monograms are to some people.

There are one hundred ways to write shòu here is a nice picture of a rendition of the 100 寿。

Hope this helps.

Shelley,

You’re awesome!

Thank you so much!! I’ve had it for almost 25 years. And when I got it, I believed it meant ‘life’ (... according to a book at the library, so long ago). But I’ve been worried for awhile that I made a mistake!

I am glad you are not worried any more. Its actually not bad for a tattoo, it could have been so much worse:)
