gato Posted February 24, 2006 at 12:50 AM Report Posted February 24, 2006 at 12:50 AM I suggested Lu Xun short stories a month ago, but no one followed up. They're probably either too hard or too serious for most people. http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/827-what-do-you-say3 I didn't feel like just discussing it with Mr. Wushi (50) Jiao Quote
wushijiao Posted February 24, 2006 at 01:43 PM Author Report Posted February 24, 2006 at 01:43 PM Yeah, I could imagine that reading shorter articles/blogs/etc. are a good way to practice as well... but I would still prefer reading books, since it is precisely that kind of "commitment" that I'm looking for. That’s actually the same way that I feel tamora. I love magazines and newspaper articles. However, personally, I’ve never been a big fan of the short story as a genre, in any language. It usually takes my mind 30-50 pages to get involved in a story. Plus, I tend to read in chunks of a few hours, rather than just snippets. In any case, I would be interested to know if anyone has any suggestions? If all else fails, perhaps we could read another medium/long length Lu Xun text? Quote
