Applying to scholarships separately to applying for courses?

Hi,

 

I'm getting a bit tangled up with this and have some questions.

 

1) The CSC (Scholarship Council) lets you apply to a few different scholarships, right? But you can also apply directly to the Confuscius Institute for a CI scholarship, correct?

 

2) I've heard you need to create a new form for each university you apply for a scholarship for?  Then why does it have 'preferences' of university listed on each form? Do you also need to create a new form for each kind of scholarship you want to apply for? (e.g: government, local etc)

 

3) Do I have to apply to each university first and then upload my acceptance letter when applying?

 

4) Is there a deadline? Or just the deadlines of individual universities to respect?

 

5) Is it better to apply via universities to via the embassy? any reason for this?

 

Thanks if you can answer any of these, i'm truly confused and think I may have done it wrong last year when applying via British Council...
