edelweis Posted May 21, 2019 at 12:03 PM Report Posted May 21, 2019 at 12:03 PM I never applied for this scholarship and I never passed this interview. But if I did, I would prepare the following topics: - your history of learning Chinese - your previous experience in China (if any) - what you find interesting about Chinese language and culture - your history of teaching if you have taught before - your previous/current studies whether in Chinese or other major - feedback you got from your Chinese teachers / your Chinese students / random Chinese persons you have conversed with - the requirements to become a Chinese teacher in your country (some countries require some certifications for teaching in schools or universities etc) - your employment prospects after completing the MTCSOL (your ideal position and some alternatives). I heard the scholarship requires your to teach for several years so it will be good to show you are aware of that and explain how you intend to fulfill this. - basic data about the Confucius Institutes in your country - basic data about the primary/secondary school that teach Chinese in your country/city - basic data about the universities that teach Chinese in your country/city - if possible, statistics about how many students and adults study Chinese in your country/city - special ties that your country/area/city may have with China (bilateral agreements, city twinning, etc) etc. Quote
