Popular Post Wurstmann Posted June 19, 2019 at 09:19 AM Popular Post Report Posted June 19, 2019 at 09:19 AM https://xcaocao.github.io/SubtitleHider/ There is now a macOS version (thx to imron!). And a version for Windows that is transparent and just blurs the background. 3 3 1 Quote
Tomsima Posted June 19, 2019 at 11:45 AM Report Posted June 19, 2019 at 11:45 AM This works so well, I just tried it while watching the news, not only does it block subtitles, you can stretch it out so it covers all the annoying scrolling stock market info too, so much easier to focus. thanks for sharing 1 Quote
Wurstmann Posted June 19, 2019 at 02:01 PM Author Report Posted June 19, 2019 at 02:01 PM I don't know why I didn't come up with that idea earlier. I was always using some other window to cover up the subtitles. Quote

TheBigZaboon Posted June 20, 2019 at 07:49 AM Report Posted June 20, 2019 at 07:49 AM How about Android?????? Quote
Wurstmann Posted June 20, 2019 at 07:55 AM Author Report Posted June 20, 2019 at 07:55 AM I only made one small Android app before, so I'm not very familiar with that. It seems to be quite the hassle to make an app stay on top of others. Quote

Not sure about Android, but on iOS there are restrictions on apps so they can't take over other apps screens. I imagine a similar thing will exist on Android as it's ripe for abuse. Edit: It seems Android might allow it, but Google is cracking down on apps that use it and they'd like to just get rid of it. Quote

TheBigZaboon Posted June 20, 2019 at 09:28 AM Report Posted June 20, 2019 at 09:28 AM It seems that on my phone, there is a category in the permissions section about allowing apps to display on top of other apps, but I don't know much about the current politics of future Android functionality... Wurstmann Posted June 21, 2019 at 01:28 PM Author Report Posted June 21, 2019 at 01:28 PM I added a transparent version that should be less intrusive. Quote
CherrylS Posted June 29, 2019 at 08:20 PM Report Posted June 29, 2019 at 08:20 PM Thank you for making this application! How do you use the transparent version? I downloaded the .net framework, but it just displays a slightly dark transparent bar without the blur. The black version works no problem. I'm using a windows 7 computer. Quote
Wurstmann Posted July 4, 2019 at 03:34 PM Author Report Posted July 4, 2019 at 03:34 PM I updated the transparent version. It doesn't stay on top anymore, so watching in full screen isn't possible right now. Turns out transparency and blur are hard to achieve But now the blur is much stronger, you really can't read anything anymore. @CherrylS 1 Quote
