New Members ChiNewb Posted June 20, 2019 at 10:13 AM New Members Report Posted June 20, 2019 at 10:13 AM Hello guys, new to this place, hope you can help me. So, little background: I have been studying Chinese for a year now, finished reading/listening/studying HSK4 (HSK Standard course, 标准教程), and am doing HSK5. So, the problem as it is: most of the times, I can't tell tones of new words I encounter while listening. I have tried different doing tone drills ( I get an excellent result there, but their pronunciation is way too artificial). It is kinda ridiculous, for instance : if I look up its tones, then I immediately notice all the attributes of these tones, so it becomes clear. Recently, I have been immensely worried about this, and started doing more listening (youtube, lingQ, some HSK listening practice apps). Also, no matter if it is a "clear" audio tape or a youtube podcast material, I struggle anyways. Is it a matter of practice, so I should simply listen to different resources? 1 Quote
