Hello guys. I've applied for CGS MBBS program. Now , I was only required to be fluent in English when I applied for the scholarship. I know that my degree will be teached in Chinese. But it's been just a couple of months since I started learning the language and I know only a small bit. I'm sort of worried if I'd fail to complete my degree with my weakness in Chinese. I'd like to know if you guys had a considerable knowledge in Chinese when you guys first started your one year of language course? Was the language course helpful to improve your Chinese knowledge? I'd be truly grateful for your advices ?

One year to learn a completely new language is not easy. To maximise that one year, the more you know before you actually start formally, the better.

And yes, I would also be worried about completing a degree that’s in a language that you have no experience of. Especially one that’s as complex as medicine.

Will the MBBS exam also be written in Chinese?!

It depends on the school. I've been told that in my university the BMed(in my university the foreign students are conferred Bachelor of Medicine like the Chinese students do) programme is mainly told in Chinese but I've heard some other Chinese universities are offering full-English MBBS programmes so I guess it depends.

Well however I think the competence of professional and daily communication skills are still essential even for English-mediated degree programme I guess. Well, you still have to finish your clinical internship in China and at least I think not all the patients are English speaker so these competence is still a must I guess.
