New Members yunfei Posted July 25, 2019 at 11:20 AM New Members Report Posted July 25, 2019 at 11:20 AM Hi guys! I have been developing my own platform for Chinese learning for over 10 years now. It is still evolving, there are some bugs, but you can already check it out here: http://chineseffect.com/materials/ You will find a lot of very useful stuff there and even though it is (at this point) a web page it already behaves more like an app. ____ ___ __ _ But what I want to show you now is my latest project - Instagram account where I reinvent Chinese characters. Words and sentences are usually in a form of original animations with cool sounds and audio explanations. I have been on Instagram quite shortly and the project is getting a very positive response. Check it out for yourselves, there is a tremendous amount of work and effort in it and I'm sure you are gonna love it! vellocet Posted July 25, 2019 at 06:04 PM Report Posted July 25, 2019 at 06:04 PM I thought I would tell you, this site is hosted in Europe and loads very slowly from the mainland. It could be just my cheapest-class China Mobile DSL connection though. Quote
Szymon456 Posted July 26, 2019 at 02:48 AM Report Posted July 26, 2019 at 02:48 AM I see web design of 1990's stands strong On the serious note - great work and I'm going to explore it in more detail, Vocabulary section looks quite interesting. Suggestions - it works really slow with VPN in China as well. So either the server isn't that fast, or as I say the 1990's design with heavy graphic and content takes a lot of time to load? I bet on the second one. Quote

I bet on the second one. No need to guess. There are tools that will let you know what is causing long load times e.g. this one from google. Your bet was almost correct, but it's not so much graphics and content, but unused/spurious css and javascript. Quote
New Members yunfei Posted July 28, 2019 at 04:52 PM Author New Members Report Posted July 28, 2019 at 04:52 PM Hi guys, thanx for the feedback. The speed is something that bothers me as well, it is damaging the user experience. Do you have any idea what to do with unused css and javascript? Thanx! Quote

mungouk Posted July 29, 2019 at 01:28 PM Report Posted July 29, 2019 at 01:28 PM Also very slow from PRC even when going through a VPN to the UK, which usually speeds things up. (My internet connections is 100Mbps.) Also, it looks like some of your Wordpress plugins aren't configured properly. Quote
