Where should I stay in Shenzhen for a week?

I wish you the best and hope it all works out well. In any case Shenzhen is an enjoyable city to visit: good food, warm climate, some interesting things to see and do.

my [MoBike] account has now been disabled without warning.

A quick update — I just registered a new MoBike account with my Chinese mobile number and it required "real name verification" like with WeChat... put your ID/passport number in, take a selfie holding the ID next to your face and upload that along with a photo of your ID.

Supposedly verification will take 1 day, and you can't use the bikes until then.  So, no more downloading the app on the spot and riding away...

This has always been the case for me using the Mobike app. I downloaded it years ago when it first started and had a deposit system.

Yeah I created my initial MoBike account in Singapore with an SG mobile number, that must've been what was different.

Apparently this is no longer allowed.
