Popular Post Luxi Posted September 2, 2019 at 11:18 AM Popular Post Report Posted September 2, 2019 at 11:18 AM Just out, SupChina's Book List Quote ...100 books about China across all genres — fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and everything in between — ranked from 100 to 1. We sourced broadly, in an attempt to create a unique, inclusive list that has something for everyone, neither catering to a specific taste nor pandering to any preconceived idea of what such a list should look like. There was no criteria except availability in English. Yes, this was more mad than methodical — but we're proud of the result. Enough here to keep everybody busy reading and learning about China for a long time. Several of these books have a Chinese version and some are not too difficult reading material for learners. The list is ranked, but I won't spoil your fun of scrolling slowly through it to find out which is number 1. 3 2 Quote
ouyangjun Posted September 2, 2019 at 05:29 PM Report Posted September 2, 2019 at 05:29 PM Thanks for sharing. Some good ones on that list. I recently bought a Chinese version of Cao Xueqin’s “The Dream of the Red Chamber”, but not his original version. It’s just too difficult to be enjoyable. I picked up one aimed at teenagers, waiting for it to arrive in the mail. Quote

abcdefg Posted September 3, 2019 at 12:42 AM Report Posted September 3, 2019 at 12:42 AM Excellent! Turns out I've actually read several of these. Will now enjoy the guidance of the editors in picking a few more. Quote
jannesan Posted September 4, 2019 at 01:54 PM Report Posted September 4, 2019 at 01:54 PM Thanks for posting! I read "The Search For Modern China" a few years back and it triggered my interest in Chinese culture. It's a very entertaining read, especially for being a history book:) Quote
