Reading Group

We did something like this about 7 years ago, while I was studying in Taipei. The reading group in Taipei, which the project here on the forums was based on, actually continued on and off for a few years and we read a pretty big variety of stuff, but only the first 13 texts had threads on this forum. One semester was a bit more like a class, because nobody in the group besides me had studied 文言文 at all before. We went through Fuller's textbook. But most semesters we just tried to pick diverse texts, with everyone taking turns choosing the week's selection, so we did excavated texts (which I forced on people), selections from 古文觀止, readings people were struggling with in class, stuff related to people's research (we had several grad students in the group), etc. It was a lot of fun.

Sort of thing I'm very interested in but will then flake out on if it actually happens. Would be an enthusiastic onlooker at least.

I'm very interested too, but am currently busy with moocs and about to join a big subtitling project, time available will be limited. I'll follow and will try to take part though probably as a rather sporadic contributor.

This is a great idea! I am definitely interested in joining a Classical Chinese group in the future. These days, unfortunately, I don’t have the time—or language ability—to participate in or contribute to such a group in a meaningful way.

I am currently reading Shiji (volume 8, biography of Lu Zhonglian) with the help of a translation in my native language. I study one sentence per day.
