And I ask it just like you did in your example. After this: 对不起,没有炒菜只有火锅, I usually say, 哦,一个人吃火锅不太好玩, as I leave. 那我改天跟朋友们一起回来吃火锅。 Quote

(Reminds me of once overhearing a Chinese customer feel he had to explain to the 服务员 that he was eating dinner alone because his friends were all still tied up at work.) Quote
