New Members ANewPope23 Posted October 25, 2019 at 05:29 PM New Members Report Posted October 25, 2019 at 05:29 PM 'A Course in Contemporary Chinese' is a series of 6 textbooks published by National Taiwan Normal University Mandarin Training Centre. I have been told that after studying the third book, one should be able to pass TOCFL level 3 (Band B, lower). However, this https://mtc.ntnu.edu.tw/upload_files/course/MTC_teaching_materials.pdf suggests that one would have to have studied the third and the fourth books to pass TOCFL level 3 (because MTC's teaching material document says that after studying the third and fourth book, one will have learned 2500 vocabulary items, equal to the number of vocabulary items required by TOCFL level 3 according to Wikipedia). Does anyone know anything about his? Quote

suMMit Posted October 26, 2019 at 05:53 AM Report Posted October 26, 2019 at 05:53 AM I could be wrong, but I coincidentally just learned this with my teacher this morning, I think it means shī fàn dà xué (teacher's training university). I love it when you learn something and come across it soon after(especially when you thought that "something" was never going to be seen again lol) I 1 Quote
sekkar Posted October 27, 2019 at 03:01 AM Report Posted October 27, 2019 at 03:01 AM I passed lvl 3, almost lvl 4, when I was halfway through book 4 if I remember correctly. So a passing grade for lvl 3 after book 3 should be possible. Quote
