New Members minjunk Posted November 5, 2019 at 05:07 PM New Members Report Posted November 5, 2019 at 05:07 PM Hello everyone, I am currently in China and want to play airsoft. I have been searching up laws regarding them, but have found some contradictions. Some sources say that all replicas of real-world guns are illegal, while an article from the SCMP in 2018 says that air guns are legal so long as their power doesn't exceed 1.8J. Can anyone provide some clarification? Also, though not related, is owning a paintball gun also illegal? Thank you! Quote
feihong Posted November 6, 2019 at 06:26 PM Report Posted November 6, 2019 at 06:26 PM I think there’s a bit of gray area. But given the current political climate, it might not be a good idea: https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/asia_pacific/china-confirms-detention-of-american-fedex-pilot-suspected-of-smuggling-ammunition/2019/09/20/27ed16fe-db82-11e9-a1a5-162b8a9c9ca2_story.html Quote
abcdefg Posted November 6, 2019 at 11:29 PM Report Posted November 6, 2019 at 11:29 PM I would not try bringing one through security at the airport. The big signs listing forbidden items always include "replicas of firearms" and specifically forbid pellet guns. I will be at the airport this afternoon. If circumstances permit, I'll snap a photo of the "forbidden items" sign so you can take a closer look. I cannot remember if it bans paintball guns by name and airsoft guns by name. Pretty sure that is a "no photos" zone, so cannot promise 100% to be able to accomplish the mission. 1 Quote
