Zeppa Posted December 20, 2019 at 09:39 AM Report Posted December 20, 2019 at 09:39 AM I just learnt that a friend has bought two vases and does not know what they are or what the Chinese handwriting on the bases means. He did not realize I know some Chinese. I'm posting the images he sent. I see the numbers but don't know what it means as a whole. Many thanks for help. Quote
roddy Posted December 20, 2019 at 10:03 AM Report Posted December 20, 2019 at 10:03 AM I bet the vase with '217' casually scribbled on the bottom of it is worth more than most of the "Manufactured in Year 12 of the Reign of the Qianlong Emperor' ones we see. Quote
Zeppa Posted December 20, 2019 at 10:16 AM Author Report Posted December 20, 2019 at 10:16 AM I wouldn't have read it as 217! but I did think the Chinese handwriting was an interesting feature. They must be some kind of chinoiserie (I am totally ignorant mind you) but they must have been in the hands of Chinese people! Should he get it valued, I wonder. Quote
