voodoochild420 Posted September 12, 2005 at 05:07 PM Report Posted September 12, 2005 at 05:07 PM Hi, I am thinking of getting a tattoo that means 'defiance'. I think chinese symbols would look very good but I want to make sure that it is the right symbols before I put it on my body. Is this right? 反抗 I got it off of two translation websites. If not, can you tell me what is? My email is voodoochildx420@aol.com Quote
Outofin Posted September 12, 2005 at 06:06 PM Report Posted September 12, 2005 at 06:06 PM It looks perfect to me. Languages always have some delicate information, which is hard to tell, behind a single word. English is my secondary language. To avoid misunderstanding, I could provide more info on this and let you choose. To me, the word “defiance” could have some slightly different meanings. If you want to stress on action, 反抗 is good. If you want to stress on attitude, you look down upon something, better to choose 蔑视 If you really mean “provocative” or “challenge”, they’re 挑衅 and 挑战, respectively, in Chinese. (Hope you could see the Chinese I typed.) Quote
