mungouk Posted January 23, 2020 at 12:20 AM Report Posted January 23, 2020 at 12:20 AM [Times article is behind a firewall and I couldn't read beyond first paragraph] I wouldn't make any plans just yet... Boris is known as a compulsive liar and this could just be a sound-bite thrown out there to make him seem moderate as we head towards Brexit next week (his political opponents were pressing for this change at least 6 months ago). If this is going to get any attention I would expect it to be as part of the Immigration Bill, presumably to be presented some time between now and May. Quote
roddy Posted January 23, 2020 at 08:20 AM Report Posted January 23, 2020 at 08:20 AM I think I read this is for working visas (Tier 2?), so different from spousal visas, which have lower requirements (£18k salary for sponsor, assuming no kids, see here). Must be a lot of people waiting to see if requirements for spousal visas do ease off. See earlier discussion. Quote
