Which good novel in mandarin where the protagonist -a person or a team- have to make a name for himself/itself would you recommend?

The idea of a plot where the protagonist -a team or a person- want to achieve something great but first have to build its reputation, make a name for and prove himself/itself, and that this aspect of the story is important for the plot line's dynamic would be appreciated.

《圈子圈套》.  The protagonist starts high, falls low, and then needs to rebuild himself and his career.

 

《兄弟》.  Rags to riches story starting in cultural revolution era China, and finishing in modern day China (well modern day China when the book was written anyway, no longer modern day, but modern enough).

 

《平凡的世界》- Although this covers the story of many people, the story of one of the main protagonists is how he comes from a poor rural village and wants to strike out on his own.

 

《射雕英雄传》The protagonist goes from uncoordinated rube, to master martial artist.
