A funny conversation I had with my in-laws this week:

 

 

ME: [Points at a home-cooked dish] 这是什么菜？


MOTHER-IN-LAW: 是gū！


ME: 什么gū?


FATHER-IN-LAW: [Lifts up the mushroom dish] 这是大菇（大姑）！ [Lifts up a second dish] 这是二菇（二姑）！ [Lifts up a third dish] 这是三菇（三姑）！
