Cyath Posted March 16, 2020 at 03:43 PM Report Posted March 16, 2020 at 03:43 PM Hello all! I'm in a unique situation in my Chinese learning journey and I thought I would ask for help. I would describe myself as an intermediate Chinese learner, trying to get my language skills to an employable range (I work as a Japanese translator, one more language would be great!) However I am running into the 24 hours a day problem. There is only so much time I can devote to language study because well, life happens. What I am currently doing is reading a page of Jin Yong novels a day and memorizing vocabulary words on the bus. I was recommended other web novels but Jin Yong is just so much more erudite. I also play some Hearthstone in Chinese to practice speech. There are obviously downsides to these methods like the lack of actual speech practice and listening comprehension. I haven't enrolled in any formalized language courses because I don't have the time and I am used to studying on my own (I taught myself Japanese) I'm open to any suggestions regarding Youtube, good textbooks or the like though. Jan Finster Posted March 16, 2020 at 06:31 PM Report Posted March 16, 2020 at 06:31 PM You may want to be more specific about what exactly you are asking and what level of Chinese you are aiming at. The list of resources is endless. .. Here is a start: https://www.chinese-forums.com/forums/topic/51989-a-short-list-of-resources-for-studying-chinese/ 1 Quote
