Ruiyan Posted March 26, 2020 at 06:31 PM Report Posted March 26, 2020 at 06:31 PM Can anyone make some recommendations for Chinese electronic music? I'm particularly interested in anything related to ambient, psybient, chillwave, trance, down tempo. If it incorporates elements of classical Chinese music that's a plus. Thanks. Quote
mungouk Posted March 26, 2020 at 07:16 PM Report Posted March 26, 2020 at 07:16 PM The dohits "label" on Bandcamp has some stuff, although I find the quality quite mixed. If you include Taiwan I like some of the stuff I've heard by Meuko Meuko... she DJs as as well as performing live, and was touring in Europe in fact before the virus hit. Facebook page. I asked a similar question here about 18 months ago and @corian pointed out this JT article with a playlist that gives a few starting points: Japan and China: Forging ties in the electronic underground https://www.japantimes.co.jp/culture/2018/09/18/music/japan-china-forging-ties-electronic-underground/ 2 Quote

Ruben von Zwack Posted March 26, 2020 at 08:46 PM Report Posted March 26, 2020 at 08:46 PM I quite like Sa Dingding 萨顶顶. Her Om Mani Padme Hum version duet with a Tibetan pop singer is particularly nice. https://youtu.be/IJ8zbKTGNUY Admittedly, all my Asian friends tell me that this is music that typically Westerners like, Asians not so much ? - but I don't care! akdn Posted March 27, 2020 at 10:40 AM Report Posted March 27, 2020 at 10:40 AM Have you browsed through the music articles on Neocha? Lots of genres, from around Asia; but recent China offerings in dance/electronica include Out of Fashion Boys and Yu Su. Both of those articles have embedded media players loaded with short playlists. 3 Quote
roddy Posted April 3, 2020 at 10:57 AM Report Posted April 3, 2020 at 10:57 AM Bumping to draw more attention to the above post - been enjoying Yu Su for a bit of a change in background music. And plenty more to explore. 1 Quote

Didn't find it here so I'll just post it. https://youtu.be/AbiMe64zeGM https://haokan.baidu.com/v?vid=13456644444390000212 (MV) EDIT: Oops, didn't realize the topic was electronic music. Can someone please move it to Chinese song of the day perhaps? Thanks Quote
SLiu1996 Posted September 14, 2022 at 10:36 PM Report Posted September 14, 2022 at 10:36 PM There is an indie band called Nand Gate (与非门) that I used to like a lot... I admit they are a bit empty in their lyrical content. Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqDuPvnudkc 1 Quote
