Particle 了

Hello everybody here, I´m new in this forum. Here´s my first question:

 

Although I already know most of the uses of the particle 了 in the following sentence  快春节了，他准备好回家过春节了 I cant get my mind around the last 了.

 

Can you show me light?

I believe it's the new information 了(indicates that the speaker is giving new information to the listener).

has prepared, has finished preparing

快春节了，他准备好回家过春节了

this sentence looks odd, why it uses 春节 twice, 

I think "快春节了，他准备好回家过年了" is better

I agree with you 100%. The original post is probably just quoting a sentence of "beginner-textbook Chinese."
