abcdefg Posted April 14, 2020 at 01:49 PM Report Posted April 14, 2020 at 01:49 PM Welcome to the forum! Nothing wrong with putting 要 before 给 and nothing wrong with using 要 and 在 in the same sentence. But both your example sentences sound very odd to my ear. Are they from a textbook, or did you make them up? Quote
889 Posted April 14, 2020 at 02:53 PM Report Posted April 14, 2020 at 02:53 PM English uses want and like a lot to express a future intent. My impression is that the 要 pattern isn't as common in spoken Chinese, and that over-use of 要 is characteristic of foreigner Chinese. That's just my impression, though. Quote
