Geiko Posted April 18, 2020 at 09:43 AM Report Posted April 18, 2020 at 09:43 AM During the whole month of April Sinolingua is giving free access to its Graded Readers through their Virtual Library, to make our confinement more profitable and fun. https://virtual-library.sinolingua.com.cn/library (From Sinolingua's Twitter account, @sinolingua1) 2 1 1 Quote
mungouk Posted April 18, 2020 at 01:46 PM Report Posted April 18, 2020 at 01:46 PM It appears you can also download the MP3s for these books. See instructions at http://www.sinolingua.com.cn/index.php?m=content&c=index&a=show&catid=14&id=4 1 1 Quote
Balthazar Posted April 19, 2020 at 10:59 AM Report Posted April 19, 2020 at 10:59 AM Maybe my browse-fu skills are lacking, but are only the lower (<500 words) level books available for reading online? According to the graded reader thread, there should be higher levels (up to 2 500 words) books available from Sinolingua. Edit: My bad, by clicking "Category" on the top bar you're able to select higher level books. Quote
mungouk Posted April 19, 2020 at 11:05 AM Report Posted April 19, 2020 at 11:05 AM You have to register/login to read them, but yes. The website is rather hard to navigate. Go to the Category menu and you should see HSK levels and number of words: For example here's Outlaws of the Marsh (abridged), one of the two books under the "Level 6: 2500 words" category. 1 Quote

Balthazar Posted April 19, 2020 at 11:42 AM Report Posted April 19, 2020 at 11:42 AM By the way, does the "Zoom In" function work for you? It doesn't for me. (Would love to be able to read on my Kindle instead. I can understand why they don't allow you to download the epub-files, though.) Quote

Balthazar Posted April 19, 2020 at 12:21 PM Report Posted April 19, 2020 at 12:21 PM I'm on Firefox (and Ubuntu), not working here. Might just boot into Windows and use Chrome later then. @Jan Finster: I had no idea Germans refer to ctrl as "Steuerungstaste". Thanks for the tip ? Quote
