Popular Post xuefang Posted February 22, 2023 at 03:17 PM Popular Post Report Posted February 22, 2023 at 03:17 PM Results for 7-9 are out with a twist! So I see my score online for the exam, but I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere how many points you need for each level. So I’m not sure yet if I passed over from failure to level 7! I’m happy with my score for first three, happily surprised for translation score! Speaking didn’t go well as they had a long text to listening (hard topic) and answer questions about, also my 3 minute speeches might not have been that good. So if each section maximum is 100, I got 73.6% and usually 60% is a pass. But if they check each section separately, like old HSK, then I’m missing a point from speaking. This will probably be cleared later when scoring standard is published or if they send a certificate, but I wish I knew now! Any speculations? 6 1 Quote

xuefang Posted February 24, 2023 at 01:52 PM Report Posted February 24, 2023 at 01:52 PM Thank you Becky! I got a notification that my certificate has been mailed and will arrive on Sunday, can’t wait! Fingers crossed I got to level 7! But I’m any case I will not stop until I get to level 9, so this new exam will keep me busy for the next couple of years at least ? 2 1 Quote
Popular Post xuefang Posted February 26, 2023 at 11:12 AM Popular Post Report Posted February 26, 2023 at 11:12 AM No more speculation, I got my certificate! I was expecting to get 7, so I’m very surprised to get an 8! Still they didn’t publish what score gives you which level, maybe depends on the overall success of all the test takers? But for now I’ll celebrate and then keep on studying until I get that 9! 17 1 Quote

Jianada Posted April 17, 2023 at 11:45 PM Report Posted April 17, 2023 at 11:45 PM Does anyone have an excel or txt list of HSK 6 (2.0)? It's been out for more than a decade, but I can't find it in this format. I want to compare HSK 6 2.0 to 3.0 in excel so I know the next few hundred words I should learn. Quote

Ledu Posted April 18, 2023 at 12:20 AM Report Posted April 18, 2023 at 12:20 AM @xuefang I wonder if you actively studied with flashcards throughout your language studies? I did watch your Youtube video on your journey. I will check your website to see if you talk about flashcard study also. Thanks. Quote

xuefang Posted July 6, 2023 at 11:17 AM Report Posted July 6, 2023 at 11:17 AM @Ledu During my undergrad study which was the most intensive time for learning Chinese I used Skritter and it was a huge help for passing exams that had to be handwritten and memorizing 50-60 new words for each chapter in the textbooks. 1 Quote
Ledu Posted July 9, 2023 at 08:42 AM Report Posted July 9, 2023 at 08:42 AM @xuefang Thanks for letting us know, what has worked for you. I tried Skritter when I first began studying but my motivation was just too low. At that time I couldn't even imagine I could read Chinese. Perhaps if it has a way to do flashcards without SRS, I may be okay with it. I will check it out again. Quote
becky82 Posted December 24, 2023 at 03:47 AM Report Posted December 24, 2023 at 03:47 AM I bought some of the new HSK 3.0 textbooks. I'll make videos reviewing them. The first one is here about the HSK5 vocabulary; it's called "Quick Vocabulary Handbook" or 词汇速记速练手册 = "Vocabulary quick memorization and practice manual". It's contents are as follows: - 54 units with 20 words per unit, totally 1071 words, in pinyin order. (The last unit has less than 20 words.) - Each unit uses an identical style: (a) definitions (in English) and example sentences (b) various exercises, but mostly fill-in-the-blank. - You can get the answers by scanning the QR code on the back. 4 Quote

becky82 Posted December 27, 2023 at 09:43 PM Report Posted December 27, 2023 at 09:43 PM I made a video for the HSK6 vocabulary here and advanced grammar here. All these books basically follow the standards, item by item, and fill in a template for each item. The HSK6 vocabulary book is almost indistinguishable from the the HSK5 book, but with different words. For the grammar book: - 156 units with one grammar point each, in pinyin order, plus a few extra 附录. - Each unit uses an identical style: (a) explain the grammar point in Chinese, (b) three dialogues in context, (c) six example sentences, (d) a formulaic explanation. Some units give some additional notes. - You can get mp3s by scanning the QR code in each section. I didn't find it on JingDong, but I'll surely buy it when it's there. However, I'm guessing it's the same format as the HSK5 and HSK6 books. 1 Quote
becky82 Posted January 13, 2024 at 10:52 PM Report Posted January 13, 2024 at 10:52 PM I stumbled upon some notes here for the livestream I watched back in August (2023). Here's one of the slides: Here's a plaintext (Yandex OCR): Quote Also note the mention of using AI for the HSK: Quote 另外,罗老师还介绍了HSK2.0改进过程中基于AI的测试研究,以及考试大纲与新标准的衔接问题。 [Google Translate]: In addition, Teacher Luo also introduced the AI-based testing research in the improvement process of HSK2.0, as well as the connection issues between the examination syllabus and the new standards. In the livestream they discussed using AI for marking, and using AI in the oral section to make it interactive. There was a subsequent livestream which I didn't attend, but there are notes here. 1 Quote
