Pengyou Posted June 20, 2020 at 12:31 AM Report Share Posted June 20, 2020 at 12:31 AM More and more net services are requiring the receipt of an sms message with a code before you can use the service to be "authenticated". I am looking for a service that will work in China (preferably without a vpn) that will give me a US telephone number so that I can send and receive calls and sms messages while here in China. Skype will do that but it gets more and more expensive. Also, it occupies too much (in my opinion) of my computers resources. Any idea? ChTTay Posted June 20, 2020 at 01:18 AM Report Share Posted June 20, 2020 at 01:18 AM I assume there’s another reason you can’t just have the code sent to your Chinese number? For things like google and Facebook I’ve never had an issue receiving authentication texts to my Chinese number. Do smaller sites not work as well? Pengyou Posted June 20, 2020 at 03:35 AM Author Report Share Posted June 20, 2020 at 03:35 AM One or two of the sites (don't remember which ones) did not provide a format that would receive a Chinese phone number. Your idea is good - I will look at the sites and see if there are some adjustments that can be made.
mungouk Posted June 20, 2020 at 09:13 AM Report Share Posted June 20, 2020 at 09:13 AM There are "International SIMs" available that will provide virtual numbers in different countries... has anyone used these?
